Welcome to my webpage. I am currently working as Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund in Mozambique. Prior to that, I was a Deputy Division Chief in the Fiscal Affairs Department of the IMF. I have degrees in both Economics and Political Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and a Ph.D (with Distinction) from Columbia University in the City of New York, where I was a Fulbright Scholar. My dissertation won the Mancur Olson Prize for the best Political Economy dissertation and was published in 2007 by Cambridge University Press as “The Political Economy of the Welfare State in Latin America: Globalization, Democracy and Development”. This site is still under construction. I will gradually add information about my research and professional interests.
